Chinese model and actress Gan Lulu was recently quoted praising Singaporean men as "non-lustful, excellent and just nice".
"Character-wise and economic-wise, Singaporean men gave me an impression of being clean, sedate and highly capable. I think they are very high quality and I don't mind having such a boyfriend."
The 27-year-old model will wear a see-through cheongsam, and two other costumes, when she takes to the stage at Club Lava for its opening party this Saturday (Jun 1).
Gan, who will jet into town with her mother, Lei Bing Xia, and younger sister Gan Mao Mao, will be performing three songs and playing games with the audience, including a suggestive "suck and blow" game using jelly shots, said a spokesperson for the new Chijmes nightspot.
Responding to The New Paper's interview questions through voice messages on WeChat, a mobile phone text and voice messaging app, Gan said of her costumes: "One of them is a handmade dress studded with beads, diamonds and crystals.
"Another is a see-through cheongsam, with a bikini under it."
In the interview, she also revealed that she sheds all her clothes only during bedtime as it's "very healthy" to sleep in the buff, and that she has no inhibitions about doing so.
Although Gan started out in showbiz as an actress, her biggest claim to fame or rather, infamy, was in February 2011, when a video of her in the shower went viral in China and made headlines around the region.
The video was a bizarre attempt at matchmaking by Gan's mother, who reportedly barged into the bathroom and filmed her daughter.
He spent over $8,000 on 50 bottles of Remy Martin Club in one night and won the opportunity to kiss busty Chinese model-actress Gan Lu Lu, 27, for five seconds.
Mr Eric Xu, 25, a Chinese entrepreneur who specialises in immigrant investments in Singapore, told The New Paper in Mandarin: “I felt quite excited and was looking forward to it, but after the kiss ended, I started to feel a little shy and did not dare look her straight in the eyes.”
Mr Xu was one of the 500 people who turned up at Club Lava in Chijmes to see the Chinese model in person, who was in Singapore for the club’s opening night on Saturday.
Lu Lu shot to fame in in 2011, after her mother, Madam Lei Bing Xia, had barged into the bathroom, filmed her daughter showering and uploaded the video online.
Madam Lei, who was also in town with her younger daughter, aspiring starlet Gan Mao Mao, 24, told TNP before the event: “It was a worthwhile effort and I definitely did not regret doing it...”
